Baccarat is a fairly basic game to play. The main part of Baccarat is determining the value of a hand.

In Baccarat, the maximum value of any hand is 9. Cards from 2 to 9 are taken at face value, Aces are valued at 1 and Tens, Jacks, Queens and Kings are valued at ten. To determine the value of a hand, add the values of each card, and remove any value above 9.

For example, if a hand totals 16, the 10 is removed and the hand is valued at 6. If the hand totals 21, the 20 is removed and the hand is valued at 1.

The player and the dealer both start with two cards in their hand. I fany hand totals 9 straight away, that hand is a Natural and wins the game. If neither hand is a natural a third card is dealt to each hand. Each hand is then evaluated, and the winning bets are paid out.
